Regina's Wascana Park September 2005

FTLComm - Regina - Thursday, September 15, 2005 images by : R. W. Shire

Mid way between Calgary and Winnipeg is truly now a gem of a city. The excavation and refurbishing of the shoreline of Regina's man made lake, Wascana has turned the city into a magical showplace. Miles of trails through lawns and along the shore line make this city on the bald prairie a really exceptionally beautiful place.

While New York has its Central Park and Vancouver the remarkable Stanley Park, little Regina has Wascana Park yet both these monster cities on each side of the continent have lower crime rates than Regina.

Now that the city has finished this beautification project it is long over due that every citizen of the province turn their attention to dealing with the underlying cause of the cities violent crime and that is poverty and the desperation that welfare and unemployment grant to everyone living under those circumstances.
