Tough To The Last Piece of Concrete

FTLComm - Tisdale - October 26, 2000

It has been almost a full year since the old Tisdale Unit Composite School was shredded in a couple of hours. The wooden structure has been intended to have a short life but as it turned out a decade or so turned into many as a creaky two story building turned out graduates year after year. Proud to have gone to this school and cherishing the memories that saw each individual grow up and move from child to adult.

It must have been the spirit
of those people because once down and the wreckage hauled away the remains have remained. The contractor was gone and the mess stayed put. The town and the school division have obviously at long last worked out a compromise and as you can see from these pictures taken Sunday the town's big hoe and that of Triple S construction are battering away at the foundation and footings of what once was a large building. In order to break up and remove the concrete they have had to dig down beside the foundation walls and then smash the concrete into manageable pieces.

It took almost until New Years for the rubble to be cleared it looks like the footings will be gone by Friday.
