An accident of nature

Crooked River - Monday, May 17, 2004 by: Helen Carson

At lunch time today I spotted this bird at the feeder. I grabbed my camera and began shooting.

It is a creamy colored bird about the size & shape of a Purple Finch. Perhaps slightly smaller, but with a finch like beak. We have never seen a bird like this & it is not in my Peterson Field Guide of Western Birds.

We are hoping someone can tell us what kind of bird he is. Or is it an accident of nature?
