Bill Barry - People Places author

FTLComm - Tisdale - Monday, November 28, 2005
Tisdale's Museum society sponsored an important event Sunday by inviting Bill Barry to speak at their craft show. Mr. Barry has distinguished himself in Saskatchewan by publishing seven outstanding books about the history of Saskatchewan. His two most recent volumes are must have references for people who enjoy and cherish Saskatchewan history.

Geographic Names of Saskatchewan is a extensively researched book that explains the names for more than 15,000 places in the province. This is an extraordinary book that compliments the place names of Saskatchewan communities.

His second important release is a remarkable piece of detective work as he, with the help of Laronge photographer Doug Chisholm and Melville researcher, Beth Parsons tells us where the lakes and places named after fallen Saskatchewan war dead are located. Each place includes a story about the Saskatchewan hero and commemorates their lives in the book Age Shall Not Weary Them.
