Merritt to Wonderland - Part 1

Merritt, British Columbia - May 14, 2001 - by: Michael Townsend

A wonderful Hog weekend and I have pictures of the tale. This is a two part tale with the trip as part one and the visit to "Wonderland" as part two.

We all meet in Merritt (as seen above). As with any gathering of bikes when we travel, we attract a crowd.

A bus tour of German tourists came over to talk and to check out the machines. Older people are always more ready to come over and talk and ask about our rides.

We stopped for gas once, but the first stop of interest was at the Hope Slide Memorial(below).

The Director said a few words to thank the Harley Gods for the wonderful day(below)

and make a small presentation to a member hooked on Cherry Blossom Bars (right).

This is Michael's Harley at the centre of the this picture and below is a group picture.

Along the way I noticed an interesting contrast when we stopped for gas. There was a Hari Krishna guy hitch hiking in Boston Bar (right). If one of us had an extra helmet, I think we would have taken him along.

We ended up at a member's place located somewhere between Logan Lake and Merritt (bottom of the page) where supper was waiting (right) and then after a night of song, dance and beer, and Denise and I crashed and burn to the back of Denise's van.(below)
