Back Yard Garage

FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, June 13, 2001

As we have mentioned before this seems to be the year for home renovations and this is at least the second home owner in town to add a garage to their yard.

A garage is one of the best investments you can make. Despite the amount of real estate they take up a garage really can save you money. When you consider that the family car consumes such a major portion of every income having a place to store that vehicle reduces wear and tear on it, and saves money. Even the most
poorly insulated garage will keep a car's operating temperature long after it has been parked and even in the lowest temperatures the temperature inside a closed garage will not fall below -10C which means you no longer need to plug in your car and when you drive away it no longer needs to use up costly gasoline to warm up. The other benefits include the hassel of ice and snow removal which are a major pain are just no longer a factor.

At the top of the page you can Jim and his crew preparing the site on Tuesday afternoon and the next two pictures show the scene this morning as the cement is laid down. Having a skilled crew like this makes the project go very quickly.

This double garage will consume much of this back yard but there will still be room for a good plot to feed the cabbage butterflies, the slugs and aphids that feast on our garderns.
