Anticipating a new building season

FTLComm - Tisdale - Monday, April 7, 2008

This morning as I was savouring my Shreddies there was the loud noise of a front end loader across the street and sure enough it was not a tourist.

It was time this morning to clear away the snow in preparation for a new basement to be dug and that will probably take place a little over a week from now. Just around the corner another lot was cleared also in anticipation of putting in a new basement.

The Co-op has firm sales for twelve new houses and it is believed Wood Country has similar orders on hand as the housing construction season of 2008 is about to get underway. I was surprised to learn that while we had nineteen new houses built or moved into Tisdale in 2007 Nipawin did not issue a single building permit.

By the way the lot that was cleared this morning across the street could have the basement dug immediately as the ground is not frozen, however, the contractor does not want to launch a building site and have to deal with frost when pouring the concrete footings. With it cooling down each night we are going to have to wait a week or so for the temperature to rise sufficiently to above freezing.
