Digging at -33ºC

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, December 18, 2008

As soon as the structure was cleared from the site of the proposed Super8 Motel the work began on installing water and sewer services to that area of town. One source informed me that no property has as yet been acquired for the Super8 project but the sign is still in place on the proposed site.

The whole area if it is going to experience any development requires the installation of a full water and sewer system. On December 1 this picture shows the north side of nighway #3 opposite the Robin's Donut location as the initial dig began.

As the month has moved along so has the dig with a complete excavation north of the highway (above) and a drilled set of lines under the highway to the south side (left).

As they have moved along they have been installing fire hydrants and man holes.

The excavation and fill is in huge frozen chunks and it is almost a guarantee that come spring this is going to be a very nasty mess. Digging in winter is not a neat process. The pictures at the top and bottom were taken today.
