 Each spring and fall the folks at St. Matthew's Anglican church host the very best rummage sale in town. The fall sale usually has garden produce but this year's gardens were not so good and instead this year's fall sale features a treasure in books.  clothes were exceptional with a selection of winter coats that has to be seen to be believed. But the sale had all sorts of other treasures like complete sets of dishes some appliances and a room of Christmas decorations. What really caught my attention were the books. This fall's sale must have included several home libraries and though there was the usual sprinkling of novels these collections included several |

 matched collector sets and at least three old encyclopedia sets. Book collections like these often have some outstanding rare books in them and are worth taking the time to sort through the hard covers for early works and I spotted at least one autographed copy. Of course there were books for those who are looking for something to read but this offering has a lot the might interest collectors. The various rummage sales in town often have excellent clothing collections and this one had a lot of items that bargain hunters were sifting through. As I casually passed by this pile I spotted a new pair of lady's blue jeans. |

 This lady is celebrating her last St. Matthew's rummage sale and she did her very best to sell me a suit as well as sell one to another gentleman who said "I wouldn't be caught dead in a suit". I suspect that one day he will. This lady is moving to downtown Toronto where she has a place and will be near her family. Hard to imagine leaving her friends behind there is no doubt she will be missed but "no" I am not buying that suit. |
