Up and on its way

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, April 19, 2007

We had the water and needed the warmth, yesterday and today we have the benefit of sunshine and the crop is showing up nicely even in stubble fields.

This morning I drove West North and East of Tisdale and all the fields in sight are planted and most are looking like these with all the signs of a good even germination. No seeding is still in progress in the immediate Tisdale area.

Now its time for the annual crusade to get ahead of the broadleaf weeds as farmers are scrambling to get the herbicides on the fields. Most of the fields surveyed have already been sprayed with just a few getting their touch up today.

One thing that was noticeable was the ponds have dried up remarkably since last week so only a few ditches hold water and the drainage in the fields and warmer winds have done the job.
