Soil Testing At The Tisdale Mall

FTLComm - Tisdale - Tuesday, November 20, 2001
Before anyone even things of building something they have to know if the ground will support a structure and from the soil conditions they can determine the costs involved in building on a site.

There are many other reasons for soil testing with test holes such as looking for contamination and establishing water permiability.

This morning this engineering firm from Saskatoon was busy exploring the ground under the Tisdale Mall parking lot. Two drillers and a geological engineer running holes and collecting samples of the material for further examination in their lab.

One of the projects planned by the local owners of the Tisdale Mall was to expand the facility by adding a modern hotel to the complex. Though we have no way of knowing if this is behind today's testing, certainly it is reasonable to conclude that the information gather in a testing programme would add considerably to developing a business plan or project plan to build such a hotel or other buildings on the mall property.
