Let there be lights

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, October 7, 2004

This morning SaskPower's Tisdale crew set to work installing the first five street lights of the type that will one day replace all of the tall green poled variety in downtown Tisdale.

Steel shafts with molded aluminum top and base these are very impressive fixtures.

The globes are actually lens that have to be set in a specific fashion. This first one will cast most of its light onto the street while the other four will be set to illuminate the park area. Four of the set installed are on the same curcuit as other street lights and

not be turned on until the others are set up.

However, after the hockey game tonight, one of the newly installed lights was on and lighting up the new town square park.

These lights not only look really good in day light but will deliver a whole lot more illumination at night as they are only half the height of the present street lighting and the are many more. Downtown Tisdale has a bright future ahead.
