The second day

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, October 4, 2002

Though
the project should have finished yesterday a few chores took longer than expected when it was discovered that the plastic main from the North was connected to the block South across the intersection with a cast section and with the hole open the sensible thing was to replace the whole thing with its valves and all.

This meant slipping under the storm sewer, several electral lines and some other unknown connections which slowed the work considerably. The picture above and right were how things ended yesterday.

This morning it was time to finish up with the removal and replacement of a main shut-off valve.

All of the wet material was removed before the lines were packed with sand and covered up this afternoon as well as the use of a street packer to make as little settling as is possible on a main thoroughfare.
