Department of Highways Fixes Highway 3

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, August 22, 2002
Today Tisdale motorists and visitors alike got a taste of confusion as the Department of Highways set to work repairing the very heavily used stretch of highway 3 that runs past the Tisdale Mall to the intersection with highway 35.

Paragon Paving from Saskatoon was doing the job and the Department was attempting to control traffice but it was definitely an uphill battle.

With three or more entrances on to this stretch of road the attempts to permit only one directional, one lane traffic at a time was really difficult as cars would swerve out of the parking lot paying no attention to on coming traffic or what was even funnier was several drivers I saw attempting to pass the long line up at the 35 and 3 intersection. They must have thought there were a lot of sight seers or something because they would try to get around the long waiting cue only to be met by a stern Department of Highways flag man who stopped them cold.

It is likely that Tisdale local traffic is just plainly puzzled by the main highway access being blocked that they were temporarily confused. What ever the problem it is a one day distruption as the work is almost finished mid afternoon.

The paving company spent almost two weeks patching streets here in Tisdale and is now doing the same sort of work in Melfort. Their crew are a hard working skilled bunch one told this reporter that the hours were long but the company treated him good. He works through to October and then goes to work logging until paving season in the spring begins once more.
