Reflections on what may be election eve

I appreciate the sentiment of the many who want this country of ours to once again stand "Strong and Free".  But is also so sad to see such blantant opportunism as demonstrated by the new-Cons under the leadership of Harper/McKay.  Do they really think they can continue to deceive the voting public?

As much as Canadians distrust and scoff at the Liberal government,  they trust the opposition even less.  It is not the leader.  Although the leader is very representative of the ethics of the organization,  if they were to change leaders for some other "can't lose" personality,  that still won't do it as far as seizing power.

If Canadians are going to change government,  they will choose an alternative they can trust.  Until the autumn of 2003,  that alternative was the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.  However,  that is now history.  Today,  I am proud to be a "progressive-conservative" and still a member of the PC Party.  Whether I,  or any other PC candidate wins a seat in this upcoming election,  I know that we can offer to Canadians an alternative that believes in this country.  As our anthem says,  I "stand on guard for thee".
