Afghanistan

General Rick Hillier, Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff (left), said Canada is in Afghanistan to " kill detestable murderers and scumbags."

Major-General Andrew Leslie (below) said, "Afghanistan is a 20-year venture," but "There are things worth fighting for. There are things worth dying for. There are things worth killing for. Every time you kill an angry young man overseas, you're creating 15 more who will come after you."

The problem with this is, that one group we have allied our selves with is the Northern Alliance and they don't come more detestable or scumbagy than that band of thugs.

Malalai Joya (below) is an outspoken Afghan member of parliament. Last March she made a speech in Madison Wisconsin. She said, "I come from a land where our people simply see US bringing a mock democracy because democracy in Afghanistan has meant imposition of the "Northern Alliance" Jahadis. These Jahadis murdered 65,000 civilians only in Kabul. Democracy there means white washing the criminal faces of Taliban. This democracy has merely brought Afghan people out of pan but into fire."

So are we going to keep fighting in Afghanistan for the next twenty years to keep these detestable murderers and scumbags in power?

The Green Party and the NDP are right. The sooner we get out of Afghanistan the better.
