Paul Martin and his 'new' plan for Healthcare

This is the same man who, as Finance Minister, single-handedly dismantled healthcare and the military by cutting funding. Do we dare believe anything he says now?

I fear that the only thing that will be different after Martin renews healthcare funding is the provinces will have no say in how healthcare dollars are spent. The federal government will have total control of the spending, and we all know how that scenario plays out.

Most of us would be hard-pressed to name one Federal government initiative that has had any positive impact on the lives of average Canadians.

We know the money disappears, and that is the only indication that anything has happened.

Canada is not a one size fits all country. Therefore, who would be better at knowing where taxdollars should be spent to best advantage --the individual provinces or the almighty dictates from Ottawa?

There is only one taxpayer--and until the Liberals stop believing their own mantra that Ottawa knows best, all we will get from this announcement is infighting between provincial and federal governments, longer waiting lines, and, as usual, citizens left out in the cold.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
