imbalance

Member of Parliament for Hillsborough Riding in Prince Edward Island, Shawn Murphy's inability to represent his constituents interests should make his name known to all concerned about the imbalance existing in the governance of Canada.

flight
tax

Shawn's statement of intent to support an amendment halving the $12.00 a flight tax he sees as harming the Island's tourist industry led to his precipitous removal from the Finance Committee...not permanently but long enough for him to be clued in.

Who?

A Government Member sent in to fill a seat on the Committee while he was absented answered "Who's Shawn Murphy?" when asked by Opposition Members of the Committee where he was.

pawns

Who is he indeed! Unfortunately, like other Government Members, he is in reality an extension of the Prime Minister's Office. Whose every actions are monitored. Who are moved in and out of House of Commons Committees like pawns.

following
orders

When Shawn returned to Committee he voted against the amendment that would have benefited his Riding and his Province. This action exemplifies the imbalance that has developed, that the first duty of a Government Member is to those issuing orders rather than to those that elected them.
