Which comes first, party or position? |

devalued |
Liberal Riding Association's reducing membership fees for their party from $10.00 to |
| $1.00 seems an appropriate course. It is a fair valuation of representation provided by | |
| Liberal Members of Parliament. | |
|
|
|
|
waste |
Rather than using the power of a House of Commons Committee to thoroughly question |
| those involved in handing out lucrative federal sponsorship contracts to friendly ad | |
| agencies, they accept statements from the two witnesses called that breaking rules | |
| were justified, refuse to call more (1) and, calling the meeting of the Committee a | |
| "waste of time"(2), shut it down.(3) | |

end |
More concerned about the numbers of discounted memberships they can sell to back |
| their choice for Prime Minister, they seemingly have no concern civil servants are | |
| justifying breaking every rule in the book, they accept without question the end | |
| justifies the means and pay no attention to editorials stating that until they | |
"can prove that sponsorship money is well spent, |
|
the government's internal housecleaning will look |
|
suspiciously like a case of the fox guarding the |
|
henhouse."(4) |

Canadians |
As Liberals their concentration on who will emerge as their leader is justified. As |
| Members of Parliament charged with representing the interests of all Canadians, it | |
| is not. | |
