Tisdale Elementary goes on march

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, September 25, 2009

Tisdale Elementary School's staff and parents deserve some applause for staging an outstanding event this afternoon.

Complete with banners and some students in costumes it was more than just a stroll around the block this was a march. Everyone from kindergarten to grade five were on the street as they went by our house. I was just leaving the house at the time and was startled to see the street full of smiling students. The school stages this walk every September but surely this must be the best weather ever for the outing. It was 22ºC with a light fall wind that just made you want to be involved.

Kindergarten lead the crowd and the safety patrol brought up the rear followed by an RCMP police car to thwart any traffic although the students and their teachers had the road to themselves.

Though it might look like they were taking the afternoon off this is the sort of school experience that lasts a child a lifetime. It takes a lot of work for teachers to have the kind of students that can be taken out of the classroom environment and clearly Tisdale Elementary's teachers are giving their students the guidance they need to succeed in life.

If you look close you will see the RCMP escort is on his cell phone.
