Honey Bee Music and Dance Camp 2006

FTLComm - Tisdale - Tuesday, August 15, 2006

This year's edition of the Honey Bee Music and Dance Camp is making use of Tisdale's outstanding facilities with the theatre in operation each day of the camp and evening concerts Monday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Last nights concert was an outstanding success with a great crowd and an exception programme. I was at the rehearsal as the young musicians got ready for their evening concert. Saskatchewan fiddle champion Dean Bernier had work with his students all day and they were definitely ready for the concert. There were parts for the beginners and challenges for those with some experience and with the confident leadership of Mr, Bernier it was a guaranteed success.

Dean Bernier is from Prine Albert and during the rehearsal gave each student attention and

encouragement as they put the finishing touches on their numbers. Rebecca Hankins-Vopni had a fiddle in her hands as she worked right along side the young musicians. Mrs. Hankins-Vopni has was one of the founders of this superior project and has been on hand each year steering it along as it has become one of the premier music experiences for Saskatchewan young people.
