Time to give up

FTLComm - Tisdale - Tuesday, June 1, 2004
Its not because they haven't tried hard enough. We have lived near this school for nine years and each year a major effort is made by the grounds keepers to plant and maintain a front lawn around what was the middle school and now is the elementary school. It has been a valiant struggle. Between the sidewalk and the inner sidewalk the traffic on the grass has taxed it to the limit but between the inner sidewalk and the building near the main entrance it has been declared a defeat.

This weekend a smooth layer of sand has been laid and for now that looks to be the end of a lawn in this area.

This school houses all of the town and surrounding area's shoes worn by people in grade one to grade five and that a lot of little shoes. There is a big effort to keep the grounds up and in the play area there are several hard surfaced areas allowing for outdoor activity in all weather. But the grassed areas really have a tough time and this is one such area that will only need to be weeded from time to time.
