Tempo Test
FTLComm - Tisdale - March 15, 2001
The underground storage tanks used by Wicks have been in the ground just over seven years and this Edmonton based company has been hired by Tempo to see that the tanks are doing their job. These tanks are not the modern double walled self containing, nor the Glassteel II tanks with built in monitoring devices like those produced by Tisdale's Northern Steel Industires, but are instead single walled tanks. In order to test these tanks integrity the testing company undertakes a series of procedures to determine that they are not leaking.

They check for water contamination, the tanks are pressurised then a vacuum is established to determine that nothing is coming in or out of the tank. The gear used by this company invovles this complex pressure and vacuum system, all of which is self contained with its own electrical power supply. During the procedure the tanks are ground and electrically neutralised to prevent a spark causing ignition as tops and connections are being made.
