Workers Compensation Board Holds Staff Celebration Last Thursday

FTLComm - Regina - September 26, 1999

So, on this last Thursday morning Sept. 23 1999 the folks from the Ivory Tower on 1881 Scarth Street Regina (the WCB) had a fun day!!

They had a good old fashioned staff rally (the Chairperson, Stan Cameron wasn't there) they shut down the WCB (from 10-2) and all the staff were bussed to Taylor Field!!!

Where they were all fed! They got to throw around the football (hope no one got injured?) and play! Then they were all given Rough Rider coloured football jerseys with their names on them, and "Team WCB" logos!!!!

Hooray for team WCB!!!

I used to work for Sony they used to do stuff like that! In fact most large corporations do stuff like that.

It is the corporate attitude of the place that sickens me!! The insurance company attitude!! The place IS NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!! It is an adjudicative body/board!!

While they had their 4hours of fun.

The Chairperson of the WCB and a couple of staff are on their way, if they are not already there, to Novia Scotia, but as far as I can tell there is no WCB meetings in Nova Scotia.

Add to the list that one of the VP's has gone to Mexico for some award, having to do with the annual budget they put out!!! And I am really impressed!!

Why, cause I got to sit across the table from an old man, who was an electrician , who now wraps himself in saran wrap at night to prevent messing the bed, but the thing is that Social services doesn't pay him enough money.....he seems to think that he should be on WCB benefits...I agree with him!!

Have fun! be proud! But the old man who sat across the table from me and cried would not be happy to hear about this, I know I'm not to happy about it!!!

I wonder how much Saran Wrap my old friend could have bought with the rent from Taylor Field, the food they served, the jerseys, the busses, the trip to Novia Scotia, and Mexico, and who knows what else!!!
