March came in like a lion

FTLComm - Tisdale - Saturday, March 1, 2003

After darkness came to us last night the wind rose, there was a little snow and because of the blowing snow visibility dropped slowing traffic and filling driveways. After midnight the wind seemed to increase in velocity howling its way through the night and then we awakened this morning with a crystal clear sky and -32ºC here at 8:00.

So in the past five years we had three lambs in a row, last year was very similar to today with bitter cold air enveloping us, but this is a typical winter day for this part of Saskatchewan. One encouraging factor was even at the -23ºC around 10:30 there was fluid water on the car

bumper, this is not a bashful sun we are seeing today.

All around town there were people out clearing their driveways from the blow last night and on the South side of town notice the ice build up on the natural gas heating vent.

But it started out as a cold day as you can see from this pick-up's exhaust but the folks who got out of that truck were dressed to use the payload in back as this is perfect weather for outdoor winter sports. As I write this it is now 4:47 and the temperature is -22ºC and the sky still absolutely without cloud. No one complains.
