FTLComm - Melfort - August 15, 2000
We were rolling down the Yellowhead last week and I pointed out to my passengers a remarkably big motor home, it looked to me like a Kenworth with a full camper. My passengers disbelieved me at the time claiming it was just a camper trailer loaded on the back of a Kenworth Tractor unit. Well yesterday in Melfort my vision is confirmed.

Though I don't believe this is a Kenworth, it is a full sized tractor unit used as the base for a motor home. With the rise in fuel prices "B" and "A" class motor homes are not selling well and manufacturers have cut back on production. This looks like something entirely different. Large diesel tractor units are fairly efficient when it comes to fuel mileage and the amble power available would make them more then up to the challenge of heading down the highway with a big coach built on its chassis. This one bears the name "Triple R" as its manufacturer's name.
From these pictures you can see this is a major machine with lockers below the floor line for storage and on the driver's side a pull out living room as we would see on many fifth wheel and trailer campers. Yet another way to see North America.
