Prince Edward checks out Saskatchewan

Regina - Thursday, June 19, 2003 by: Ken Jones

When Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex arrived at 4:20 in Regina to begin his tour of the province yesterday, Ken Jones with his press credentials from Tourism Saskatchewan was right there only eight feet away to catch these pictures for you.

He was greeted as he stepped off the stairs by Saskatchewan's Lt. Governor Linda Haverstock (above).

He will be here in the province until Sunday visiting Lloydminister, Prince Albert, Melfort, Moose Jaw and Regina. The Royal visit is timed to coincide with Regina's 100th birthday which includes Regina's biggest fireworks display scheduled for Saturday night at 11:00.

The Prince has been
involved in theatre and film since high school and now both he and his wife are actively involved in film production. With this interest and considerable accomplishments in the arts many of his appearance include visits to theatres, performing art centres and the new film and video sound stage in Regina.

The planners of the trip really jammed a lot in these few days, you can see the schedule
on the web site for the visit.

(Editor's note: Ken Jones has better pictures than the official ones, good work Ken.
