The flower pots return

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, June 4, 2009

I must admit that though winter is an interesting thing to experience now and then it is not my favourite time of the year and deep down inside I have been longing for the return of the flower pots on the street corners of downtown Tisdale.

The flower pots are more than just attractive spots along the street but seem to convey a level of civility that greatly enhances the whole of the community. When the upgrade to Tisdale's downtown was first begun it certainly was an addition to the attractiveness of the town but for me it was the flower pots that really made the statement that this community was worthy of flowers on its main street. Flowers that need tending and nurturing, flowers that lend colour and diversion to a street on which the wind can sometimes be merciless.

The flower pots that adorn the street through the three blocks of the business area are put together by the Four Seasons Greenhouse but once in place folks from Parks and Recreation water and tend the pots to keep them looking great until the scourge of winter is once more upon us.

The fact that they are now in place seems like we have turned the seasonal corner. Yet many parts of Saskatchewan have a frost warning for tonight with some areas expecting temperatures of -1ºC sometime in the cold wee hours of the morning Friday.
