Time to pull the plug on Summer

FTLComm - Tisdale - Monday, August 28, 2006

The chemical process were stopped today and the summer season of 2006 for the Tisdale pool is over for another year as tomorrow they will actually drain out the water.

With the temperatures hovering in the mid twenties this week I wondered out loud, if with the given waarmer longer summers we have experienced might it be time to consider lengthening the season. Recreation Director Dwight Olson explained that they tried it for a couple of years, keeping the pool open until the labour day weekend and he said it just didn't work. There were no swimmers at that time of the year.

I mentioned this to the helpful life guard who posed for the fake picture above (I put the chain and plug in the pool as she explained to me "its a lot more complicated than pulling a plug out") and she said that she returns to college on this coming Tuesday. But, she too concluded that with such great weather it seems a shame to not have the pool open until the weekend.
