| This picture was taken a few yards from the Tisdale Golf course club house as we
look West toward the town. On the track is a ballast machine spreading out some
fresh material just at the edge of the town railyard. Though the inland terminals
that are now a feature of Tisdale rely heavily on trucks to bring the product to
their door, the railway system remains a vital part of the grain transportation system.
Both CN and CP have been spending money and effort on maintaining their right of
way in the area so that the filled cars can move safely to market. Just like a street
or highway, holes have to be filled and the surface made as smooth as possible as
a minor depression becomes a bump and without attention a broken rail or damage that
can lead to a derailment. |
