Preparations for the Rambler rodeo

FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, March 29, 2006

With the Telus Cup here beginning April 6th the Rambler rodeo and trade show is going a week ahead of usual and this year the arena surface has ice on the bottom. To get a good solid footing for the various competitions a combination of straw and soil was poured on the ice and frozen down in place then the surface soil installed. A big project but it is finished and the rodeo shoots were being installed this morning.

The Rambler Rodeo and Trade show is one of the major events of the year in this community and gets started Thursday afternoon at 5:30 with the Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Association's competition and team roping at 7:30. On Friday the rodeo gets underway at 7:00 PM and later after the show Codie Prevost heads up the entertainment for the rodeo dance.

A new event for this year are the timed event challenge which amounts to team competition beginning 9:00 AM Saturday morning. The popular horse pull competition is at 1:30 and the rodeo is on for 6:00 with the Electyric Cattle Company performing for the evening dance that starts at 9:00.

The trade show is a remarkable event for a community this size as it opens at noon Friday and goes until 6:00 PM Saturday.
