Floor Finishing and Plumbing

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, November 15, 2001

Each week we have kept you posted as to the development of Tisdale's Senior citizens Golden Age Centre and we are now into the final stages of the buildings completion.

Wall switches and plates are starting to appear as the details are being taken care of as you can see above the work on the hardwood floor is nearly done. As this picture was taken on Wednesday afternoon the fourth cross sanding is nearly done and if it is smooth enough they will move to lateral sanding as the final surface preparation moves along.

As you can see above right, the hard surfaced flooring has a shine. Clear water washed, then a mild cleaner, then more clear water, two coats of sealer and four coats of wax.

Meanwhile the plumbers are installing the hardware in the washrooms with some parts installed and boxes of other pieces awaiting installation.

November 30th will be the celebration programme with a pot luck supper as the first major event is now scheduled for the Centre. Posters are up all over town advertising this initial event and the building is well on its way to being ready.

Besides what you have seen on this page the bases for the kitchen cupboards are in place, the stage storage doors made, installed and removed for sanding. With the plumbing, electrical and floor finished nearing completion the interior doors are all ready to be installed and at that point only the fitting out of the kitchen will be undone.
