Carpet Bowlers Rolling Along

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, December 14, 2001

This is the second Friday afternoon for the Tisdale Carpet Bowlers to enjoy the new Golden Age Centre as they will continue through the winter with carpet bowling each Friday afternoon. The club has members and participants from many of the surrounding communities and from the quiet concentration it was clear that many both enjoy the competition as well as the fellowship.

The game is played very similar to outdoor lawn

bowling and both games share a lot of similarities with curling. But as you can see from these pictures there were lots of participants on hand for today's games.

Meanwhile in the games room all three pool tables were busy. There was pool yesterday afternoon as there is most days. They players pay for the afternoon ($2.00) or by the hour ($1.00) and there is no shortage of players or keen competition.

Two of these are brand new tables with outstanding natural light it is an ideal environment. Mr. Crochaine is seen below getting ready for his turn.

In the past two weeks more of the finishing work has been going on as the tops have been installed on the kitchen cupboards and the upper cupboards installed.

This pictures shows the West wall in the kitchen and below is a picture of the East wall. There are plans for a centre island to be installed in this kitchen for food preparation and clean up. This island will have sinks and the plumbing has been roughed in below but is covered with flooring for now until the final installation.

You can see in the picture below right that as well as

the sinks being installed the kitchen now has a commercial type dishwasher installed below the microwave oven.

All parts of the complex are now in place and only some minor details remain to be completed. A few doorways and window frames to be finished off but in general this outstanding facility is ready to keep right on rolling along.
