Quilts for Ronald Macdonald House

FTLComm - Tisdale - Monday, May 2, 2005

It was at the end of January that we
shared with you some pictures of the quilting bee that was part of the regular programme at Tisdale's Golden Age Centre. Those wonderful quilts are now finished and it was time to pass

them on to a place were they will go to good use.

The last Friday of the month is time for the Golden Age Centre's monthly pot luck supper and as you can see from these pictures there was a good size cheerful crowd on hand this past Friday night.

A quilt by its very nature is a special piece of bedding because of the personal work that goes into it. Each quilt has a little of the personality of the quilter involved in making it and the simple choice of fabric, be it recycled or new lends so much to the charm and value of the piece.

Mabel Schmidt presented the first quilt to this couple.

The couple accepted the black, white and gray creation on behalf of a family member.

Each of the others were placed on the stage then each individual from the quilting bee picked up their product for the group picture shown at the top of the page.

An individual, whom I was unable to catch the name of, accepted the collection on behalf of the Saskatoon Ronald Macdonald House.

In this small way members of this caring community are able to show their support and concern for those who use the Ronald Macdonald House accommodations when in Saskatoon receiving treatment for serious illness that can only be treated in the city.
