Football season begins with exhibition double-header

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, August 30, 2007

This year's football season got underway in Tisdale today with Melfort playing Tisdale at 4:00 this afternoon and Nipawin taking to the field at 5:00. Exhibition season with condensced games but, the action was outstanding. You can see some highlights of the first game in the video with Tisdale scoring an unconverted touchdown.

It was remarkable for high school exhibition games to see plays being executed with such finese definitely the players and coaches have been paying attention to the details this year.

(This video requires a most recent version of QuickTime to be viewed and high speed Internet connect.)

From these pictures you can see the stands were full of enthusiastic supporters and there was lots to cheer about. The first thing on that cheering list would be the almost perfect weather. A cloudless sky, 23ºC, 7 knot wind and hot dogs for a dollar.

The high school football season can be a short one and when things are going bad it seems to last forever. There were some bright moments on the field this afternoon; Tisdale's confident running game, a few completed passes and an outstanding punt return, all of those are in the video clip.
