FTLComm - Tisdale - February 18, 2000
Tisdale Ramblers finished first as the regular season of the Pasquia senior hockey league wrapped up. The Ramblers went on to the provincial playdowns where they won their first game against Wynyard and were defeated by a fired up Wynyard team in their home rink.

Birch Hills finished second in the league standings so that gave the Ramblers and the Black Hawks a buy as Mistatim and Nipawin squared off in a best of three series in which Nipawin won the first, Mistatim the second and in a squeaker Nipawin came away from the series victorious. Kinistino and Hudson Bay were somewhat secretive about their series as we did not get any results from them but Kinistino has emerged the victor and its on now to the second round in the play-off process. Nipawin and Tisdale, and Kinistino and Birch Hills in best of seven series of games.

On Sunday (February 20) night at 8:15 the Nipawin Knights will be on the ice here against the Ramblers and they will meet in Nipawin at8:15 the following night (February 21). They will be back here Wednesday (February 23) night at 8:15 for game three, game four is scheduled for Saturday February 26 in Nipawin and game five will be here Sunday February 27. We have had some tough times at the end of the season with Nipawin so everyone, including manager Bob Price expect the series to stretch to a full seven games. Game six is scheduled for Nipawin on Wednesday March 1 and if a seventh game is needed it will be here Friday March 3. All of these scheduled games are at 8:15.

Both Birch Hills and Kinistino have taken a lot of penalties this season so it is to be hoped both teams get into the spirit of play off hockey and stick to the game.

The Rambler / Knights series could be a pretty exciting affair. Scott Homstol (left) lead the league the highest number of points for the season and four other Ramblers were in the top ten including Shane Magnus, Jordan Spagrud, Ryan Turcotte and Chad Olson. When the Ramblers get their scoring play going they are virtually unstoppable.

The Knights have a very young and aggressive team they can skate at the same level with the Ramblers and their defense is effective when it keeps the area in front of the net clear. Curtis Wannamaker has lead his team in penalties but he and the solid goal tending of Curtis Parkinson and Kevin Lockwood make the Knights a difficult team to score on. This should be a great series so make sure you get out to the Sunday night game.
