Ramblers 99 - 2000

The Second Page

Tisdale has lots of great hockey to watch all winter long but the supreme level of hockey is the senior hockey team, The Ramblers. Their first public home game of the season was on Saturday night against the Mistatim Warriors. By the middle of the second period it was clear that the full house of spectators were definitely getting their money's worth in an evenly matched game with a 3 to 2 game. From that point on the score see sawed its way along with each team trading goals until with only six seconds left on the clock Mistatim broke the 7 - 7 tie with the winning eighth goal.
Mistatim had a difficult season as they were new comers to the league and though they played hard they were not truly competitive, but that is now history as the Warriors of 99 - 2000 are almost a mirror image of the Ramblers with some veteran players. a few from Carrot River and a fair number of young and exciting rookies including Blake Abbott who played as a Bantam for a time with Tisdale.

For an exhibition game the scores of Mistatim and Tisdale fans who came out to the game tells us that this is going to be a great hockey season.
In the picture below we see Lee Bowerman surveying the ice and on ice images of Scott Kearns then on the right Neil Elmslie in for a face off with Brad Kirkland's back to us. Both teams were able to quickly move up ice with good passing and puck handling. The Ramblers' defense was a little crisper but Mistatim was able to take advantage in power plays and kept up steady pressure with some exciting breaking plays. Below on the left is the winner of Saturday night's 50-50 draw, then Jeremy Markwarts father and a future hockey player.
Mostly hockey, one fight late in the game sent Shane Magnus and a Mistatim player from the ice and also in the third period Jim Fofonoff was kicked out of the game for checking from behind.
