Trojans round off their new coaching staff

FTLComm - Tisdale - Saturday, October 23, 2004

It was a popular choice with the team when the Trojan executive appointed assistant coach Randy Kerr (left) as the team's new head coach following the departure of Darrell Mann who has gone on to the helm of the Melfort Mustangs. A week ago tonight the new assistant coach Leigh Spencer joined the team for their two weekend games in Swift Current.

This is a difficult transistion for a team so early in the season but at Friday's practice it was clear that they had high confidence in coach Kerr and assistant coach Spencer. Having won one game and tied the other the team, both players and coaches alike, view tonight's contest with the Notre Dame Hounds and tomorrow with the Argos as an important test to see how their spirits

and team attitude will cope with this new leadership. With coach Kerr having been with the team for many years he is really a veteran and the players I talked to Friday were enthusiastic about the season and the way the Trojans have been playing.

One player was dropped from the roster last week and a new fellow has joined the line up for the weekend. The injured Robbie Beaudry has eleven more days before he get out of his cast and hopes to resume play soon after.
