Until proven guilty

When did the principle that a person is innocent until proven guilty get dumped?

The emotional cop in Toronto, held a picture and referred to it as being the image of a person who is not only a murderer but a child murderer.

CBC TV seemed to be comfortable airing that story for most of today.

Certainly the crime against the 9 year old was terrible; of course the horror to her parents, relatives and friends is indescribable; and likely the Toronto police do have in custody a suspect who has been charged.

That last part is all we should hear from the cops.

It is the court that should (I do mean shall!) determine the guilt or innocence of that or any other suspect.

The media - in this case, a very unjournalistic CBC - and out of control cops are seriously compromising our system of justice.
