During the recent Federal election the new government leader Stephen Harper promised to remedy the situation whereby Saskatchewan loses $1,12 for every dollar garnered by the province from oil and other natural resources revenues. This clawback situation puts undue stress on the provincial economy and is not being treated the same as other parts of the country which do not have resource revenue lumped in with equalisation adjustments with the federal government. Premier Calvert takes time in this interview to explain the present situation with regard to negotiations with Ottawa and prospects for the future.
