April showers - snow

FTLComm - Tisdale- Wednesday, April 28, 2004

I was a little surprised at how the temperature stayed so low today. The rain last night was excellent and when I went to bed the temperature was nearing zero so the snow itself was no surprise. It plastered itself on the north side of everything and as everyone knows I believe that if it put itself there then it can take itself off. So when I went to take the picture above, i hit the down switch on the window and reached for the camera and all the snow on the window flopped all over me.

Though in other parts of the province the snow was gone by noon that was not the case here as it remained with us all day long as you might have noticed had you checked this site's

Web cam.

The hostipal took on a decidedly wintery look as did the country-side to the west of town. All of these pictures were taken between 11:30 and 12:15 today.

The complex pattern made by the snow and ice on the thicket below shows that many of these trees are well on their way to leafing out. No doubt this needed moisture will turn the grass green allow the weeds in the fields to get themselves started and in short order we will have the tractors out in the fields to begin a new crop year. This shower and its snow are exactly what we have been looking for.
