Bohemian Waxwing

Birds are interesting and I believe they deserve respect as we share this world with them. However, my feelings toward this particular species is less than favourable. But alas it is improper to judge a whole species by the behaviour of some and this well behaved group dropped into our yard this afternoon to sample the blossoms on an ornamental cherry tree, the same tree that in other years others of their species have feasted upon the fruit then . . . well let us hope that incident is behind us. Though native to boreal forested areas Peterson's field guide makes no mention of this species being a regular part of Saskatchewan's normal residents. Given that we have pictures of them over the years, it would seem that this is an oversight for indeed, they are here both winter and now it seems, in summer as well. I clicked off quite a number of shots of the five or six in our yard today and you can look these images over in a ten inch size by clicking on the thumbnails below.
