Tisdale:
Ordinarily we try to show you projects that are real as opposed to proposals. But this one is an exception. Tisdale's history and success with doing co-operative community projects is best illustrated with the RECPlex and this project looks like the cummunity wants to build on its success with a multi-function facility based on the Tisdale hospital. This is a multi-million dollar project and you actually can assist in start up financing by visiting a web site in an effort to get a grant.

Tim's Tip of the Day

So far we have been coping with this recession despite how bleak things originally appeared. The problem for us all is that we have so little perspective to determine if these are good or bad times. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

Find of the day

No covering up Egypt's
niqab row

Egypt has become quite alarmed at the growing trend by Egyptian women to wear the niqab associated with radical Islamic sects from Saudia Arabia and has set forth decrees banning of the garment in many places.

Happenings In Tisdale:

New motel project gets underway
Thursday
October 22, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Excavation and preparing the property for construction began on Tuesday as Chupa Excavation and Trucking is reshaping the entire area almost from the highway south to the limit of what will become the new development. The main contractor on the project is an Alberta company Canalta and they have one man on the job supervising the digging.

Thursday
October 22, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire

Time marches on a computer systems need to be replaced or upgraded about every three to five years. Today it was Tisdale's Post Office's turn to get their system upgraded as the office was closed until 3:00 this afternoon.

Wednesday
October 21, 2009
by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale:
With 92 members the local chapter of Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan is one of the larger organisations in the community. This month's meeting was a potluck lunch on Monday with their special guest, the vice president of the provincvial organisation speaking to the group highlighting some important issues for various services and programmes for superannuated teachers.
Ideological inaction
Wednesday
October 21, 2009
by: Shane Mussche
Hamilton, Ontario:
In an effort to stave off the affects of the recession the federal government has been funding a lot of what seem pretty much like pork barrel projects in their member's ridings, even presenting cheques signed by the MP with a Conservative logo. The medical isotope production facility at Chalk River was underfunded and support by the government has ended as an attempt to privatise the project also failed. Makes one wonder.
Aurora and Chloe at the pumpkin patch

Images by: Matthew and Dawn Shire
Craven:
Being four and a half is a lot of fun it you hang out with your best friend and visit a market garden where they have face painting and huge piles of pumpkins. This story is in the 64 pictures that Aurora's mom and dad took Sunday afternoon, they are not entirely in order the software used to create this set of pages has a bit of a mind of its own but you will get the idea.
The Greenwater report
Monday
October 19, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Carstairs, Alberta:
Snow in Alberta and still crops in the field, it looks like the Crawfords should have put on their winter tires before heading to Alberta. A report on the Kindersley Mall and hail damage in the Carstairs area.
Forester's melting men
Friday
October 16, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire

Lots of sticky wet snow made the creation of snowmen almost a required right of an early fall.Though there were a few others standing on Tisdale lawns clearly Forester Crescent was leading in the population per block.
Before the snow
Thursday

Regina:
This past summer was very cool and yet as the summer drew to an end the flower beds around the province really put on a final show for the year. Now with snow on the ground in Regina and killer frost every night we can wish the summer of 2009 farewell with these pleasant images of the gardens in front of the provinces legislative grounds in Regina with Wascana lake in the background.
The Greenwater report
Wednesday
October 14, 2009
by: Gerald crawford
Saskatoon:
Gerald chronicals Saskatoon's first brush with winter and tells us about the Persephone Theatre as well as gets a plug in for the dinner theatre out at Langham. Without winter tires and perhaps their parkas the Crawfords are off to Alberta this week to visit family.
US President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize
Wednesday
October 14, 2009
by: Brian Marlatt
White Rock, British Columbia:
The American media has become so high polarised that they can not cope with an honour being bestowed upon their leader without turning the event into an excuse for more name calling and ridicule. Many believe their actions are based on racism. In this article Mr. Marlatt points out what the world knows. Barak Obama has turned around the world and moved his country toward peace. Ending the misilie programme in Poland and his approaches to Muslim countries. Real achievements and a promise of more.
Baffoon quality public discourse
Friday
October 9, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria, British Columbia:
Canada's present government seems fully bent upon serving itself and some of its supporters while the rest of Canada and especially minority Canadians are left to fend for themselves. What we have is a callous indifference to life.
Thanksgiving a year after the collapse of the economic system
Thursday
October 8, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
By the way, its okay just to look at the fall pictures. Today's story deals with the things we can be thankful for as this recession moves along. Some see it easing while so many people are unemployed it is going to be a while but the consequences of what the business and governments have done will last for decades and perhaps longer.

The Greenwater report
Tuesday
October 6, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Rosthern:
Perhaps the last weekend motor home trip of the year for Gerald and Doreen. There is no question that this way of spending the summer is perfect for the Crawfords as it allows them to get out and see things, visit with pictures and share their adventures with us all.
Heritage Road
Tueday
October 6, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Though three streets have or are in the process of being paved, Tisdale's streets are still in very poor condition and certainly the worst is Heritage Road which at times is just to rough for most cars and vans.

Signs of hunting season
Wednesday
September 30, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Late this afternoon there were a number of trucks loaded with or pulling trailers with ATVs aboard and that is a sure sign that its time for the moose to take cover and farmers ought to issue flak jackets to their cows and any horses worth protecting.
The Greenwater report
Monday
September 28, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Lake Provincial Park:
The Crawfords were in heaven last weekend as they spent it at Greenwater Lake Provincial Park. Had meals at the Cove and golf course and coffee at the Cove and lunch in Perigord. You can tell it recharged their batteries as they soaked in the fall colours, the coffee row banter and the Rider football game.
It was a really short summer
Monday
September 28, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
With frost last night and perhaps tonight as well we are definitely long past summer and for many Saskatchewan farms still thousands of acres to go before this year's harvest is over. The signs of a cold summer are not only in the fields but everywhere you look. In the future forestry people will look at the small growth rings and point out that that was the summer of 2009.
