Tim's Tip of the Day

Though we are celebrating the extremely mild weather through most of January we are also experiencing one of the driest winters in a long time with very light snow cover in the fields and ditches while there are even thinner amounts south of Naicam. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

Why the US owes Haiti Billions - The Briefest History
The reason why Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere is not something that we are aware of. This brief history points out the part the United States played in handicapping the country and even in recent times has supported dictators rather then democratically elected government in Haiti.

Happenings In Tisdale:

This is what it means to be a Canadian
Wednesday
January 13, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
The devastation and tragic loss of life in Haiti affects us because we are a nation of immigrants who share life on this planet with others who are at time faced with massive challenges and it is for us to reach out give a hand and do the right thing.

Highway #6:
Though the phenomena had been noticed by many before it was humourist writer Douglas Adams in his Hitchhiker's Guide, Life, the Universe and Everything that he described a common effect or field that happens when everyone it seems ignores the obvious.
Maybe its time for an election
Wednesday
January 6, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
For the second year in a row the Prime Minister for reasons known only to himself has shut down parliament. Without the hustle of the daily question period and being called on the actions he and his government takes they can put their feet up and there is nothing anyone can do about it. If he does not want to be Prime Minister in a democracy then perhaps its time he had an opportunity to go back to his separatist roots in Calgary.

A new year and a new decade
Wednesday
December 30, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
There is no known cure for the continuous pressure of time. So it is that once again a year and a decade draws to a close and we must look into the coming year and the coming decade to consider what may befall us as time moves onward. This tradtion of making predictions for the coming year extends backward through the history of this web site and far beyond that. There have been times when the predictions have come to pass and other times when the future was simply of the specs. This year will be no better and perhaps no worse than others.
We call it Christmas
Wednesday
December 23, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
This truly one of those things that seems remarkably unrelated to its name. Evergreen trees decorated, Father Christmas, Santa Claus, Frosty the snowman, Rudolph the Rednosed reindeer, mistletoe, holly, gift giving, egg nog. . . the list is endless and all of these familiar things are only marginally related to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth 2009 years ago, give a decade one way or the other. So indeed what is this "season" really all about?
Reuse and recycle
Tuesday
December 22, 2009
by: Ken Styan
Tisdale:
Though we in Tisdale prefer to recycle paper products rather then have them go off to the landfill but alas that is simply no longer an option in our community. Ken has come up with one way he can make use of something that we all throw away.
