Pleasantdale:
The first story in Ensign about Pleasantdale was in June of 1998. It was time to revisit this pastural community and see it as it is now. So we have nine pictures of the community and though things have changed much remains the same.

Tim's Tip of the Day

What we are and what we want to be is defined by what we do. Ultimately you make the choices to live the life you want to live. You can be happy with yourself, you make the choice. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

Happenings In Tisdale:

  • Tuesday, October 6th, Hanover Room at the RECPlex 7:00 Rock show, Fall in Archaea
Kipabiskau Regional Park

by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Ensign was shut down this past week as we rebuilt and refurbished the office but today we visited one of Saskatchewan's most elegant regional parks. In many ways Kipabiskau rivals many of Saskatchewan's provincial parks with its upkeep and outstanding layout. Though we are getting into fall, Kipabiskau is still in summer. A remarkable cottage owner's paradise.

The Greenwater report

Watrous:
We catch up on our motor home vagabonds as they spent a weekend and a little more at Manitou Regional Park at Watrous. Gerald obviously avoided the mineral brinny water the place is famous for as he didn't mention it once but we know he had a great time with their Sunseeker buddies.
Tisdale makes some paved streets
Monday
September 21, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Two major thoroughfares are being completely rebuilt as damage to these streets was so extensive resurfacing was not an option. The weather has not hampered the progress as the work is marching right along.

by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale:
The Tisdale chapter of superannuated teachers is one of the largest (non-city) groups in the province and meets once each month. This month it was a lunch meeting at Kipabiskau's Hidden Meadows golf club house and here is the report of that meeting.
Tisdale gets some of its streets ready to resurface
Thursday
September 10, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
A significant number of Tisdale streets that have been left for some years as gravel suspension testing roads are about to get paved. In some cases the street is being excavated down almost two feet and new gravel being packed in to make a solid roadway for the new paved surface to be laid shortly.
Bringing it in

Tisdale:
This year's harvest is staggering along. There is a wide spread in the time various fields were planted and it is a test of considerable magnitude for farmers to get it off in a timely fashion. Most years the crops are sequential from one variety to another as they mature, but this year we see wheat, barley and canola all being harvested as they come ready.

Saskatoon:
The Crawfords spend the week in town and attended the Labour Day fire works. This report has a thoughtful stock taking of the adventures Gerald has had in his life.

by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
A small elderly house was cleared from the lot east of Cedar Villa mid July. A new foam form concrete basement was created on the lot and the area around it prepared for a new house. Today the house was moved onto the lot from Rose Valley.

Tisdale:
Each year the Tisdale chapter of the Superannuated members of the Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation get together for their first meeting of the year at the Riverside Golf Course for breakfast. This year 42 members of the 91 member group were able to attend and Garry McPeak put on an outstanding breakfast for the group.

Last Thursday we check the fields around Tisdale and saw some swathing, today some fields have already been harvested and those being swathed on Thursday were being combined today while swathers were busy in Canola fields turned them into windrow mazes.

Niagara Falls Ontario:
Is politics involved? Politics is always involved. Mr. Hueglin brings forth a warning about the rush by government to appear to be doing something about what is potentially a very dangerous influenza epidemic. But it is your responsibility to keep yourself informed and measure the actions being taken.
Tornados kick off season with exhibition game with Esterhazy
Monday
August 31, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
TMSS Tornados have two exhibition games to start of the season, the game this afternoon at home with Esterhazy visiting and on Friday the team will be in Nipawin to round off their pre-season. But it was outstanding football weather this afternoon with no wind and a cloudless sky as Tisdale fans soaked up an exciting game  with the Tornados leading 14 to 12 at the half followed by a touchdown as the took the lead in the third quarter.
The Greenwater report
Monday
August 31, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon:
With no Internet connection the Crawfords were unable to get us a report last week when they were out at Little Loon Lake Regional Park, near Glaslyn. But, we get caught up this week as our happy campers soak up some of the late summer weather.
Chronically short history
Friday
August 28, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
With a historical heritage of only a few years more than a single century this part of Canada is virtually a new world in progress. Though as a people we can look back on our European experience this history of this part of the world is so short it practically is non-existent. The area had been inhabited for perhaps 12,000 years but almost nothing is for sure prior to 1905.
Not quite yet
Thursday
August 27, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Most barley crops are ready to swath and peas are ready for the combine but with only 15ºC today and about the same yesterday things are not dry enough to get the harvest process underway. While taking these pictures this was one of two swathers struggling to chop into a damp but ready field.
