Tim's Tip of the Day

YBased on the amount of money lending advertising being done from South of the border it looks like the United States is financing its operations with printing presses. If you are holding American funds in an account recommend you convert them to Canadian or other money quickly That US dollar is in real value over valued by as much as 50%.

Ensign Notes

Sorry but running pretty late today, most of today's material will not appear until after nine tonight.

The immigrants who came home
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Their home land is just over a decade old yet their culture and their traditions have carried Canada's Ukrainians through the good and the bad times. Here is the story of how they got here.

The IMF and World Bank: Poverty Reduction and Growth? Or the Same Old Formula?
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Mark Weisbrot and Debayani Kar
The International Monetary Fund and World Bank wrecked the economy of Russia and Argentina but that is not holding them back from taking on Sri Lanka and trashing the progress that it has made as they plan to enforce urbanisation of a rural country.

Carrot River Spring
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Kevin McIntyre
Routinely each spring the rivers and streams in the North Central part of Saskatchewan swell from the melting snow and over flow their banks. But in the last few years there has been very little spring run off. This year Kevin caught the Carrot River doing what it is expected to do with five outstanding images.

Nasty Feelings
Monday, April 14, 2003
by Edwin Wallace / Mel Hurtig
Edwin, like so many of us has been feeling discomfort over the negative anti-Canadianism that we are seeing and hearing about and then he discovered the text of a speech by Mel Hurtig from Edmonton. Here is Edwin's introduction to Mr. Hurtig's speech given in Victoria.

The Greenwater Report
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Gerald Crawford
Readers in Armstrong B.C. are going to start seeing this report in their local paper as spring arrives at the park. But there is always time for another fishing story and the geese have reclaimed their territory. Great pictures this week.

The End Does not - - - - -
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Rebecca Gingrich
Reflecting on the points made by Brian Marlatt on Friday Rebecca points out that the taking of human life in Iraq by either the former dictator or the Americans amounts to the same thing and ultimately the issue is the conquest and economic activity that is prompting the United States in its Imperial activity.

On the road to Sussex Drive
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Joe Hueglin
The former minister of finance is haunted not only by his Burmuda bank accounts but by his actions as minister as he makes his way to the prime minister's residence.

Baring our truths and taking back our rights: Our lawyers in a world where Might is Right
Monday, April 14, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
The pictures that accompany this story are not directly related. Mr. deSantis is dealing with the generalities and the specifics of the legal system as it protects itself and often avoids any conflict that might cast shadows upon itself. The pictures tell about a similar story that surfaced early this morning as CBC has been digging into the death squad cases and Saskatoon Police force.

Its a Ukrainian Thing
Sunday, April 13, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Saturday night the Ukrainian dance group at Ituna held their season show for their home town crowd. This story includes a QuickTime Virtual reality picture of 656K and requires QuickTime installed to be seen. This is really three stories, the community celebration of its heritage, show highlights and some insight into the impact of the culture we know as Ukrainian.

Shakes one's confidence in things
Friday, April 11, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Just a car broken down needing a tow, right? Wrong, it is a Cadillac broken down needing a tow. This must mean something! To hear the song you will need QuickTime installed in your computer.

The end does not justify the means
Friday, April 11, 2003
by: Brian Marlatt
The facts as we know them are explained in this story as Brian Marlett from White Rock brings the issues down to the basics. This story is accompanied by a series of pictures obtained from the Arab News in Jeddah Saudia Arabia.

Incidental learning, the stuff of real education
Friday, April 11, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
So what is really happening when a child is playing. What is really happening when a school class goes on a field trip. When learning really happens there must be experience.

Oh you can print this!
Friday, April 11, 2003
by: Kevin McIntyre
Kevin has never been shy about speaking his mind. Here is a practical and the way it is situation report as Kevin talks about the "spoils of war". Kevin does not necessarily agree with the action taken by the United States and is critical of Canada's position but all in all the results are real enough and here is what they are.

Contextual Awareness
Friday, April 11, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
If you look at a bullet is appears harmless enough, why even a gun is just an odd mechanism, but when you consider their design and their function there is a whole different layer of reality that creeps into one's awareness.

Friends: Respect and trust
Thursday, April 10, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Today Lindy Thorsen on CBC and Public Radio in North Dakota are doing a phone in on US Canada relations. With this in mind I thought we should think about friendsip a bit. To hear the song you will need QuickTime installed in your computer.

Societal economics on auto pilot: a personal SGI insurance claim and the war in Iraq
Thursday, April 10, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
Mario damaged his car, then went to SGI about a claim but got the "you can claim but I won't tell you how much it will cost you" line and wonders if there isn't a metaphor in this experience as we look upon irresponsibility worldwide.

Honey Bee Family Music and Dance Camps
Wednesday, April 9, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Late July and August a music summer camp is planned and well on its way to becoming an opportunity for young people to participate in a music programme while camping out at a local farm.

Where is Canada?
Wednesday, April 9, 2003
by: Derrall Bellaire
Canada has sided with the world about the concept of "regime change" by force but that doesn't mean we should not stand unconcerned while thousands are suffering from the affects of an invasion of their country. Here is a positive and appropriate action for Canada to engage in, one that would help in time of considerable need and action that would not involve being a part of war criminal activity.

Principled vision lacking
Wednesday, April 9, 2003
by: Mike Reilly
Trying to keep up with the wind direction and what the polls say each day is pretty tough on foreign policy. Canadians and their government got this deal right in the first place as a responsible part of the international community now its time to help out the people of multicultural countries like Iraq to find a way toward building a workable democratic or at least peaceful form of administration.

The falsehood of president Bush and his media's three step program
Tuesday, April 8, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
It is now widely known that the American President has deliberately and systematically been saying things that he knows are not true. The American television networks and newspapers are providing him knowingly with support and assistance. This can not be good.

Bush&Co.'s hypocrisy:the bundling fascio of God and Greed
Tuesday, April 8, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
Each day as Mario deSantis searchs through countless stories and information and then as I go through hundreds of pictures to illustrate the summation he writes of his research, we both are considerably saddened by the scene we are uncovering. As I went through mid-eastern and Asian sources tonight I was struck with the enormity of what is going on and know that those lives lost will not be forgotten but generations will live on to avenge their loss. This can not be good.
