Tim's Tip of the Day

This is how we Canadians differ the most from Americans. After four years of a president who was not elected few, if any Americans believe in democracy and certainly those in power are against it in every way. But in Canada our parliament can decide to hold another election tonight or work its way along with a minority government. We Canadians believe in the Briitish parliamentary democratic system.

Kevin's find of the day

Daley hints at change for Ill. drug laws (pdf) AP writer Don Babwin reports that Chicago's no nonsense mayor, Richard Daley, wants to see minor soft drug offences handled with a ticket rather than tie up police in expensive court proceeding where 94% are tossed out of court.

of Events

A straitjacket for our dreams
Thursday
October 7, 2004
by : David Orchard
Borden : Job were lost and most Canadian businesses absorbed or taken over by United States owned companies but those are small loses compared to the really damaging harm Free Trade and NAFTA have done to Canada.
Tisdale welcomes new Bank of Montreal manager, Myrna Bobryk
Wednesday
October 6, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : Hot dogs and donuts made a great sunny mid day lunch for Tisdale folks to get a chance to meet the new manager of the Bank of Montreal and bid farewell to Loran Forer.
Big Potatoes
Wednesday
October 6, 2004
by : Donna LaRochelle
Gravelbourg : There are gardeners who deliberately set out to create really big versions of their plants but this was not the case at a farm eight miles north of Gravelbourg where two hills of potatoes weighed thirteen pounds.
Kerry’s vision of ‘change position’ and Bush’s vision of ‘certainty’
Wednesday
October 6, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Prince Albert : Television commentators would not voice their comments about the success or failure of each candidate in last week's debate until they got the poll results to tell them what to think. That one factor tells you almost all there is to know about the American intellect and their powers of reasoning.
Breast Cancer
Wednesday
October 6, 2004
Images by : Timothy Shire II
Prince George, British Columbia : Participants all across Canada were out on trails and streets in a massive fund raising event for treatment and prevention of breast cancer. Here are two outstanding images from Prince George.
The Greenwater Report
Tuesday
October 5, 2004
by : Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Provincial Park : The frost has bitten Gerald hard as he found it hard to savour the quality of Sunday morning. But all is not gloom as there is a new great grandchild but on the other hand a grandson is stuck in a Chinese airport with missing papers.
Trojan's Home opener
Tuesday
October 5, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : It looks like Trojan fans are in for a good season as the home team came out with a strong win with their first game on home ice this season.
Anglicans' fall sale
Thursday
September 30, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : This is a big one with a huge stock of all kinds of products from appliances to new clothing and just about everything in between.
A hole lot bigger
Thursday
September 30, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : The edges of the dig have been defined and it looks like the soil removal process was pretty well finished by this afternoon (before the snow) and clean up and refill can begin tomorrow.
Outpost Lacxonton
Thursday
September 30, 2004
Prince Albert : A movie to be shot in Prince Albert next summer is in need of a performer to play Colt Festus a country singing character. This is a notice for auditions for the part.
Tell your leader for me!
Wednesday
September 29, 2004
by : Joe Hueglin

Le due Simonette bring joy to Italy and everywhere else there is hope
Wednesday
September 29, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Prince Albert : The release of the two Italian aid workers by Iraq fighters suggests that there may be much better ways to solve problems then fighting and killing.
Town has begun cleanup of soil contamination along highway
Tuesday
September 28, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale : Many folks were worried that the old filling station site just east of the railway crossing on highway #3 would be difficult to clean up. Today it really needed a no smoking sign.
Snow, Blue and an Emperor
Monday
September 27, 2004
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :The annual migration of arctic birds has begun and as it the case every spring and fall they stop off for a week or more in this part of Saskatchewan. Some years farmers are not particularly pleased with them but this year with the value of the crop in the fields being what it is they are just part of the landscape.
The Greenwater Report
Monday
September 27, 2004
by : Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Provincial Park : This week's report is interesting but it is hard to pay attention with so many wonderful fall pictures. A visit to Elfros and Foam Lake with high school provincial golf tournament on the side.
On the Myth of Economics’ Productivity Growth: Avoiding Taxes, Establishing Foreign Subsidiaries and Exporting American Jobs
Monday
September 27, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Prince Albert : It is almost a matter of religious faith that if you are able to do more in less time with less resources then you are on your way to profits and economic heaven. This concept is a myth and this article shatters that myth.
REFORM: another word for covering the assets of businesses, experts and politicians
Saturday
September 25, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Prince Albert : The catch word for modern politicians is "refrom" it seems that they believe that the public will buy a major overhaul of a programme rather than funding or supporting the programme the way it was originally conceived.
