Life in our bubble
Friday
January 30, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Tuesday morning Persona, our connection to the Internet failed and we had no connection to the world until late Thursday. No way to complain about the budget and its pointless nature.

Happenings In Tisdale:

  • Saturday, January 31, 7:30 Bellows and Brass in RECPlex Theatre

Parkland Photography Club, January meeting
Friday
January 30, 2009
by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale: This month's meeting of the photo club seen some heavy lifting as images were judged for a Regina photo club competition and of course this month's theme pictures of old buildings.
The Greenwater report
Monday
January 26, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Gerald and Doreen catch up at the celebration of the life of a friend in Wynyard. The Crawfords are renovating their place and I think suffering from cabin fever as they plan some motor home trips this coming summer.
All our tomorrows
Friday
January 23, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: This little story deals with the fleeting issue of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Listen to the song at the bottom of the page by clicking on the QuickTime arrow.
Cabin Fever
Thursday
January 22, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Only late January and already it seems like it has been a really long winter. The days are getting a bit longer each day but we still have and will continue to have winter.
Economic downturn and grain prices
Wednesday
January 21, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: We all know that the dramatic decline in the stock market has hit the commodity prices with a vengence but just how bad is it. Here we take a quick look at what the prices mean and it is easy to see how this will affect the Saskatchewan economy.
A need to be frank and honest about economy
Wednesday
January 21, 2009
by: Scott Brison
Wolfville Nova Scotia: During the federal election only two months ago the Prime Minister and Finance Minister said that there would be a budget surplus and the economy was in great shape. The downturn in the economy had begun several months earlier and they were aware of the stockmarket meltdown that was already well underway.
Tracks
Tuesday
January 20, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Essentially all of history and for that matter every bit of archeology is just a variation of following tracks. Every event seems to leave its mark behind, sometimes obvious, sometimes obscure but at some level there are always tracks. Today we take a look at some tracks from north and east of Tisdale.
Goodbye Bush
Tuesday
January 20, 2009
by: D. Aid Qarni
Saudi Arabia: This message came in our e-mail today and explains to me why we in a very different culture with our own points of view find the Muslim world a mystery. It is clear from this piece that the Google Translator took much of the text a bit to literally so you have to think about that when you read this through, also check out the editor's note at the bottom of the page that gives some confusing information about the author. One way or another, we need to think about this.
Preparing for a safe snowmobile season
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Saskatchewan Safety Council
Regina: Cold or warm the snow conditions are outstanding and folks are out there on their snow machines. This message covers a few safety tips but oddly enough does not mention the main cause of injury and death and that is combine this fun activity with the consumption of alcohol, not an acceptable combination.
Greenwater report
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Gerald and Doreen did not have a tough time dealing with great grandson Logan this past week. Gerald reports on the passing of some folks from Kelvington and Wynyard and gives us a report on the goings on at the Saskatoon Field House.
Time for a tidal change in point of view
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: Tomorrow the United States turns the page and it is to be hoped that with that change of leadership comes a dramatic shift in attitude from one of fear and hostility to that of hope.
Change is overdue
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Don wilson
Masstown Nova Scotia: It may be that much of the economic turbulence the economy is undergoing was caused by the security exchange watchdogs losing their grip on things and life goes on. In fact this is a message of hope with the belief that things are not nearly as bad as the media suggests and we can get on with our lives provided we get back to the concept of saving.
Democracy is a fragile thing
Friday
January 16, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: We as citizens of the world can not excuse the behaviour and chronic mistakes of the George W. Bush and his administration but the blame and shame is certainly not his alone. The 'Fifth Estate' failed miserablly and allowed that administration to carry out the crimes that it will go down in history for committing.
That's been a cold spell
Thursday
January 15, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: It began to warm up in Tisdale late this afternoon and Environment Canada is predicting balmy temperatures for tomorrow and the weekend. But, it has been almost a full month of very cold times for us all and today we have some chimneys to look at.
Pioneers of Rainbow Lake
Wednesday
January 14, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Rainbow Lake is an oil town in the far northwest corner of Alberta. The place went from being a camp to a town in 1967 and its school opened in 1968. People were transplanted from southern Alberta and parts of Calgary to the deep bush of this new oil field. Now those children in the picture above are looking for one another.
Throw a match in 24 Sussex Drive
Tuesday
January 13, 2009
by: Kevin McIntyre
Carrot River: The Prime Minister and his family have moved out as the National Capital commission begins a mammoth over haul of the residence that is perhaps thirty or fourty years over due. January 14th, we haved added a reply to this story from the Prime Minister's office.
Greenwater report
Tuesday
January 13, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Friends still meet for coffee and Gerald is concerned about the Middle-East conflict and gives us his opinion on things. Meanwhile he is worrying about the water heater in his new place.
Do Harper's Conservatives "walk the line" or cross it?
Tuesday
January 13, 2009
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls: The present government in Ottawa seems to find itself close to the line so much of the time that one wonders if they are not embracing the 'Dark Side.'
Music and art
Friday
January 9, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: You may think you are doing okay, understanding the essential things that you see about you each and every day but you and pretty much everyone else is living in an illusionary world. Seeing and hearing what you think not what is.
Little things mean a lot
Thursday
January 8, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Take the moon out of the picture and it is a pretty boring sky. That seems to be the way it is with a lot of things. Just a little detail or perhaps a comment that makes a huge difference in what we see and what we think.
Neumeier December player of the month
Wednesday
January 7, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Tuesday night there was a good crowd on hand to cheer on the Trojans against the Saskatoon Contacts. It was also time to recognise the achievements this past month of Mitch Neumeier who was pick player of the month and top scorer at the Mac Tournament in Calgary during the Christmas break.
Nice cup
Tuesday
January 6, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The consumer driven throw away world we live in is starting to look like a pretty messy place and we need to question the economics of throwing stuff away, more to the point creating products designed for only one single use before discard. Not only is the conomics a bit fuzzy but the common sense just isn't there.
This is going to be fun
MOnday
January 5, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Regina: The wonder and adventure of the world of a three and a half year old is catching and perhaps we have all grown to old to realise that so often the undertakings we do have potential for fun and are well worth doing.
The Greenwater report
MOnday
January 5, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: We catch up on the holiday celebrations and Gerald brings a number of passings to our attention. Weather affects everyone and these low temperatures make the city bus system look like an attractive alternative to venturing out with a car.
