This year's crop emerging
Friday
May 23, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: While I wait impatiently for the leaves to come out once more on the trees there is grass growing in the back yard and I am going to have to mow the stuff before next Friday. Out in the farm fields the story is the same, the trees are just starting to get their act together but there is a solid green tinge to the fields as those who have not sprayed get a new crop of weeds but in other fields the green is this year's crop.

Tim's Tip of the Day

Kevin's find of the day

Eight more years of petrol pain
This Australian report shows that the price of oil will continue to increase until 2016 at least. Australians can expect to pay $2.00 Australian a litre by the end of this year. This is scary news as the Australians who's dollar is close to our own in value will be paying $1.70/ litre within the next two weeks.

Where does Mr. Harper stand on the issue of free speech?
Friday
May 23, 2008
by: Rebecca Gingrich
Princeton Ontario: A private members bill is before parliament to pretty much shut down the Canadian Human Rights Commission and it would appear that Ms. Gingrich shares that opionion as she feels to many trivial cases are brought by the commission to further its own power.

Fool me once, shame on you . . .
Wednesday
May 21, 2008
by: Tom Brewer
Regina: The Tory government and several of its MPs including Regina MP Tom Lukiwski promised up to $20 million to assist in the upgrading and revitalising of the aging IPSCO Place, what we all know as the Regina Exhibition grounds. Well it looks like they were just talking and nothing more.

by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: This afternoon I spotted an occassional visitor to our part of Tisdale, a tall curious Jack rabbit who was checking out a man out for a walk. The hare did not seem to mind getting his picture taken and posed for a minute or so before setting off on his way.
Bike safety week
Thursday
May 15, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Just like the first few weeks of winter when we all have to learn to drive again each spring those on two wheels, adults and children alike have to learn all over again that being on a bicycle can be a truly dangerous thing unless you follow the rules of the road. Today's picture was not staged that's what Tisdale drivers have to cope with and it is only a matter of time until a cyclist becomes a statistic.

Harper's proposed militarization of Canada
Wednesday
May 14, 2008

Victoria B.C.: In an effort to garner increased favour in Washington it appears as though the Prime Minister is bent on making Canada over into a USA/North with similar levels of military spending and the emphasis on might is right on the world stage.
Canada First on errands of mercy?
Wednesday
May 14, 2008
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria B.C.: The Prime Minister has essentially dedicated Canadian military efforts to war and more war. Hardly the sort of thing Canadians have been or continue to be proud of, especially when we have the world wide reputation as a peace keeping and humanitarian aid providing country.
"Canada First" not placing Canada first
Wednesday
May 14, 2008
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls Ontario: The Prime Minister pronouncement on national defence is simply not in the national interest. If Canada is first in our defence spending we would put money into search and rescue equipment and survailence aircraft with tough ice breakers to patrol our arctic waterways. None of these elements were mentioned in his speech in Halifax.
